Privacy Policy

In compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), this is Read Write Tools' data privacy policy.

Data that we obtain from you

Site Visitors

While you are browsing our website, we log all HTTPS requests from your browser and all responses by our servers. These logs contain the IP address used by your device, which is essential for the HTTPS network protocol to function. We use this IP address to identify bad actors, to protect our network infrastructure, and to forestall attempts to break into our systems.

Licensed Users

When you download and install any of our software products, whether purchased or on a trial basis, we provide you with a license key. This license key is associated with data about the product you have installed. Each time you use the software, we verify the authenticity of this license key, using the device address of your computer, and the IP address of your computer network. We use this data to prevent piracy, and to block unlicensed use of our software.

Customers

When you purchase a license to any of our software products, we forward payment information from you to a PCI DSS compliant payment processing gateway, allowing us to charge your credit card, debit card, or other form of payment. We retain your customer name and the last four digits of the credit card used for purchases.

When you login to your account using a customer number and password, we temporarily store a credentials token to your device's local session data. We do this to allow you to view your license keys and purchase history.

Data retention

Short term data retention

We store site visitor log data for a minimum of 90 days, in order to proactively identify threats from bad actors. We may keep log data — including IP addresses — for longer than 90 days, in order to investigate suspicious activity, protect our network resources, and block attempts by bad actors to breach our secure servers.

Long term data retention

We retain your customer number, license keys and purchase history for a minimum of three years, according to standard accounting practices. We use this data to conduct our business in an orderly fashion, and to allow you to communicate with us regarding your purchases and licenses.

Obtaining a copy of your data

You may login to your account using the customer number we assigned to you, and the password chosen by you, to view and print all of the data we retain about you, your purchases, and your licenses.

Data sharing

During purchasing, we use a third party payment processing gateway to facilitate PCI DSS compliant transactions using your credit card, debit card, or other form of payment.

For accounting purposes we retain your name and the last four digits of the credit card used for such transactions.

We do not sell or share any information with third parties for the purpose of marketing.
